Join us for our SEL Spirit Week from March 9 through 13!

Mood Meter Monday (Self Awareness):
Wear an outfit that shows energy and pleasantness highs and lows. Try to include all four colors of the Mood Meter in just one outfit.

#Twinning Tuesday (Relationship Skills):
Dress similarly or identically with a Snow Student or Snow Staff that you admire. What positive character qualities do they have that you can also match? (This could be a perfect opportunity to wear your Snow School gear).

Wellness Wednesday (Self Management):
Wear an outfit that makes you feel cool and confident or calm and comfortable....Wait! Why not both?

Thinking about Others Thursday (Social Awareness):
To understand other people's perspectives and experiences you need to show empathy and effort. Put on your "thinking caps" today and show Snow that you have both. (Pssst...It's a HAT DAY!).

Bright Future Friday (Responsible Decision Making):
Dress up like the kind of person you want to be or the profession you want to have when you are a grown up. Bring your Best "Future" Self to Snow School. (If you are unable to dress up, just wear SUNGLASSES for "the future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.")

To support an SEL Choose Love activity inspired by Scarlett Lewis’ visit to Snow School last week, classes read a self esteem/self love book and then created hearts that say “I love myself because/ I love me/ I am”.... The students then wrote a word or a few of why they like themselves and then decorated the heart so each is unique. Once students were done they cut them out and put them up on display in the main front foyer. What a way to show affirmations and show how much we care about ourselves and our school community!

Students in the library decorated cards for our local veterans. We started the lesson by learning what Veterans Day is, then read books about service men and women (Twenty-One Steps: Guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, America's White Table, Rolling Thunder, and Veterans: Heroes in our Neighborhoods.) Afterward students decorated their thank you cards and wrote messages to local veterans. Those that have veterans in their families were encouraged to make them a thank you card as well. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade made cards.

The cards were dropped off at the Town Hall to Faith Jackson who is the Veterans Service representative. She will distribute them to veterans at the Veterans Day ceremony in town. The ceremony is on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery 317 Bow Lane, Middletown CT. Cards will also be distributed at Snow to veterans attending the Veterans Day Assembly.
