Snow School believes that Attendance Matters  -

Please be reminded that every day counts for school attendance purposes. This means ½ days, early release and late arrival days.

Did you know?

We understand that you never know when your child may become sick.  If your child does need to miss a day of school, please send written verification to your child’s teacher when they return from a day of absence.

       Cell phone use -

Here at Snow, we believe your child's social and emotional wellbeing is as important as their academic achievement. Nowadays, students have access to a range of social media through their electronic devices. We are finding that a large number of conflicts are resulting from social media interactions. Specifically, Snapchat and Yolo are most concerning. Snapchat is a popular messaging app that lets users exchange pictures and videos (called snaps) that are meant to disappear after they're viewed. Yolo is an anonymous question-and-answer app that links with Snapchat as a way to share comments and questions with others. With Yolo, you can post a reply to a comment, or answer a question on a Snapchat story.

What is most concerning is that in some cases these apps are being used as an avenue to inappropriately comment anonymously and/or post photos/videos that are inappropriate or threatening in nature. Additionally, the discussions about the social media posts are disrupting the learning that should be taking place in school.

Unsupervised and/or inappropriate social media use puts our students at risk of emotional harm. We believe it is important that our students make responsible choices when using electronic devices, and that they demonstrate our core ethical values of respect, cooperation, kindness and safety in all aspects, including electronic communication at home and at school. We urge you to have a conversation with your child about responsible use of social media and electronic devices. As a reminder, our school policy says that electronic devices should not be seen or heard in the possession of any student during school hours or events. In addition we would like to remind parents of the age requirements for these popular apps as listed in the terms and policy of usage by their companies.

Did you know?  The Age Requirement for Yolo, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok is between 13 - 17 years of age.

With families monitoring home usage of social media and our commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all of our students, we can help Snow students interact with technology in a respectful and safe manner.
